Brief Description: The Frontier Corps facility at Warsak is a large facility with billeting,
training, offices, DFAC etc. which is completely self-contained. This
ATFP Fixup project was one of several projects executed by Astral
(then called Kestral SPD (Pvt) Ltd) on the site and consisted of
dismantling and reconstruction of poorly-installed facilities as well as
construction of new ones. This was a design-build project with the
design following US military specifications for ATFP measures as
applicable to facility as well as individual unit level.
The project involved construction of numerous bunkers, fully-
independent guard posts with cooking and toilet facilities, entry/exit
check-points, full-facility fencing (mix of barbed wiring, concertina
wiring, HESCO barriers etc.), T-Walls, jeepable access to all posts and
bunkers and all ancillary facilities supporting them.
Some of the AT/FP force protection enhancements consisted of:
Design and construction of ten (10) reinforced concrete personnel bunkers. Each 1.5m x 1.5m x 6.1m in dimension
Design and construction of six (6) two-story piquet houses/observation posts. Each with power, water, sewage, and HVAC provisions
Design and construction of reception and security building including two watch towers at main security gate
Design and construction of Large Vehicle Inspection Station (LVIS) fitted with CCTV camera system and large enough to accommodate a 40 ft shipping container truck
Provision of five (5) portable telescoping area lighting towers
All design and construction work was in accordance with International Building Code, to NFPA-70/NEC 2008 for electrical works and to US-DoD Anti-terrorism Standards for Buildings. Value of the project US$ 5.3m
